The West Seattle Food Bank is very humbled by the generosity of Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band for allowing us to solicit donations at their recent “River Tour” concert on March 24th at the Key Arena.  Fourteen of our incredibly energetic volunteers armed with easy to see WSFB logoed signs and buckets infiltrated the arena and with a plea by Bruce on stage, the Springsteen fans answered with a total of $24,000!  At the encore, Bruce introduced our own West Seattleite, Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam, up on stage to sing Bobby Jean with him.  Eddie generously offered to match whatever was donated that evening!  That brought the total to $48,000!!  But if that weren’t enough, a week later we received a surprise check in the mail from the E Street Band’s production company for another $10,000!

We don’t have the words to express our gratitude for this once in a lifetime opportunity. Big thank yous to Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, their generous fans, Eddie Vedder & Pearl Jam and of course, our fabulous volunteers.
