The West Seattle Food Bank can only do its work because of the strong support we receive from the West Seattle community - from families, individuals, churches and community organizations, our elected official and our community service partners. Thanks to all for your valuable support.
Donate money
Your financial contributions help the food bank to operate and maintain the high quality of our programs. Your donations will help to pay for operating costs such as insurance and rent, as well as for the purchase of bulk food items.
Donate food
Donations of food are always needed and greatly appreciated. We can especially use:
canned protein items (tuna, peanut butter)
baby food, formula and diapers
fresh produce
fresh milk, cheese and yogurt
nutritional supplements, such as Ensure
We received over 675,522 pounds of donated food items last year!
Workplace giving
If your workplace offers payroll deductions you can support us every month by designating the West Seattle Food Bank on your contribution form. Also, many employers match charitable contributions made by their employees. Check out this option where you work.
Hold a food drive
A fun way to help out - and get more people involved in fighting hunger - is to sponsor a food drive during celebrations (birthdays, weddings, family reunions) or any time of year in your neighborhood or workplace. This is a great way to get children involved in volunteer work. Contact us if you’d like help in organizing a food drive.
Wish list
You can also help us with office supplies or other items. Right now we need:
Plastic and paper grocery bags
Pet food
White copier paper
Volunteer
Last year the West Seattle Food Bank had over 200 volunteers that served over 11,200 hours. We are grateful to have so many local community members helping us in a variety of ways to carry out our mission. Most of our volunteer opportunities are during our open hours of Monday through Friday 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. If you would like to know more about potential volunteer activities currently available give us a call or stop by.
Some specific volunteer needs include:
Serving on our Fundraising or Finance Committees
Delivering bags of groceries to homebound elderly or disabled clients. Requires using your personal vehicle, ability to
lift up to 30 pounds, available Wednesday or Friday mornings between 9;00 and 12:00.
