Mom & Child reading

The Bookcase is a community service at the West Seattle Food Bank to support clients with an ongoing supply of new and recycled books donated from local bookstores and individuals.  The Bookcase Program has distributed over 14,000 books providing a wide variety for all ages.  Our most popular books are:  picture books for young children while they are waiting in the lobby with their parents, resource picture books for those clients learning to speak English, cookbooks for all ages and of course, history and fiction books.  The wonderful advantage of the Bookcase is that our clients can take as many books home as they desire with no worry of returning them.  Our hope is that our Bookcase program will inspire and encourage clients of all ages to take advantage of the knowledge and enjoyment received from reading a book.

Thank you to our book donor partners:  Seattle7Writers, Discovery Books, Merryweather Books, Pegasus Book Exchange, Discover Books, Holy Rosary WestFest; Tibbets United Methodist Church and all the individuals donors in our community.

Thanks to Stocker Foundation for a grant to help us distribute more books to the children and adults in our community.
